IONIC was approached by this growing, multi-location church to provide conceptual design for a new campus location in Norfolk, VA.
The church was seeking confirmation of suitability of a 21,000 square-foot office building with the intention of converting it into a new worship facility. The design incorporated a contemporary feel to complement the church’s primary location in Virginia Beach. IONIC utilized the existing footprint and maximized the ability to conform to the current structural bearing walls. Fortunately, the preexisting design allowed for on structural bay to be larger than the others for the sanctuary. This presented an opportunity for ou design team to raise the roof in this area creating a higher column that the worship assembly required. The remainder of the structural design was carefully altered with consideration of the budget in mind.
To create a common brand for the church, IONIC added a new second story entry that formed a gathering space inside and a billboard outside
